10 Things NOT To Do at Walt Disney World, Part 1

We get asked our opinions of some of the really magic things to do when our friends visit Walt Disney World, but never get asked what NOT to do.  So we thought that we would give you 10 things that you SHOULD NOT to do on your next trip to the most magical place on earth!

Today we will look at #10-6!

10 – ONLY Ride the Rides – There are so many GREAT attractions that aren’t rides.  Disney is known for world class attractions, but also for  live entertainment, fine dining, water parks, golf courses, and even boating, fishing, and driving exotic sports cars!  It’s not all about roller coasters, soaring,  and flying elephants!

9 – ONLY Go to the Theme Parks – With 4 major theme parks, 2 water parks, and Downtown Disney…you may be tempted to spend all your time inside the amazing themed recreational parks.  But Walt Disney World is surrounded by amazing resorts that you are allowed and ENCOURAGED to visit and explore.  Several resorts like the Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom Lodge have several events for kids and adults to enjoy even if you are not staying at that resort!  Spend some time at your resort and you will discover many ways to enjoy your stay that have nothing to do with park passes!

8-ALWAYS Take the Kids – If you have kids and want to visit Walt Disney World, but would LOVE to have a day or evening on your own, did you know that you have an option?  There is a service called Kids Night Out that provides not only in room childcare, but also an additional pair of hands while you are inside the parks.  We highly encourage you to spends at least 1 evening without the kids to really enjoy and experience all that Disney has for the grownups!

7-Don’t Take the DVC  Tour – I know that as a rule, time share tours suck.  But learning about the newest resorts being built by Disney’s Vacation Club is VERY exciting.  Even if you don’t ever plan on becoming a member, finding out about the amazing opportunities and taking a tour of the different housing options DVC offers is actually fun as well as fascinating.  It VERY low pressure and if (when) you say no, it’s not a problem AND you get free ice cream.  And while Mom and Dad are touring around, DVC takes great care of keeping the kids connected to the magical world of Disney.  It’s truly a GREAT experience…and it’s totally free!

6-Only Watch Fireworks Inside the Parks – Fireworks at Walt Disney World are always breathtaking and beautiful and they are amazing to watch inside the theme parks…but there are even more incredible places to watch the fireworks that are outside the parks.  Wishes, the nighttime spectacular at the Magic Kingdom, can be viewed at any of the resorts located on the Seven Seas Lagoon, but we love watching from the beach at the Polynesian resort.  If you are staying in the Boardwalk Resort Area, there are even a few spots to watch Illuminations, Reflections of Earth!

I TOTALLY AGREE! It took me a minute to realize the format of this.. but yes, there is so much Disney other than what you see on tv! I love it! And next time I am there, we will look into the DVC tour! It was just me and my boyfriend last time we went in December, we are 20. So that was fun! And one night, we just sat in our room, ordered pizza from the cafeteria, and watched Criminal Minds all night! Can’t wait for the rest tomorrow! 🙂

Don’t rush. Look around, enjoy the detail in the Disney design. Explore!

And…Don’t get a cinnamon bun at the Main Street Bakery.
    More for me!

    Cheers

Here’s a deal for you, if by chance one day we meet up… I’ll give up my dining plan snack credit and hook you up with one.

        Don’t tell my granddaughter.

That is a great deal…and I sincerely would LOVE to meet up with you and spend some time chatting. You are one of the reasons I keep running Parkhoppers… Cheers, my friend!
