5 Ways To Re-Imagine Mulch, Sweat, and Shears

On September 11, 2015 it was announced that Mulch, Sweat, and Shears was leaving Disney’s Hollywood Studios and it sent shock waves through the Disney Community.

We love the band so much we cannot dream of them not being around.  So here are our Top 5 ways WE would re-imagine “Mulch” at Walt Disney World.

1.  Move Mulch, Sweat, and Shears to Epcot

Epcot has tons of flowers and green spaces that would require a group of lawn care specialists.  Why not just transport the band and gear into Epcot and let them play throughout the park.  Epcot could use the live entertainment and the additional offering for guests to enjoy would be a welcome update to the park.

2.  Relocate To Downtown Disney/Disney Springs

If Disney and the band wanted to keep the same theme and backstory, they could easily move over to Disney Springs.  Already a hotspot of live entertainment, “Mulch” would make a great addition to either the Westside or even on the main stage right outside the World of Disney Story.

3.  Mulch, Sweat, and Shears become Jungle Jammers

Keeping the entire backstory the same (lawn care workers by day, rockers by night) Disney can retool the jokes to fit into a jungle/safari motif and move the band to Disney’s Animal Kingdom.  There used to be a live act that played on Discovery Island just outside the entrance to DinoLand, so the new iteration of the band could work there as well.  But please, don’t paint them up in blue and use them in Pandora.

4.  Move the band to the Magic Kingdom and make them the Tomorrowland Band

Go with me on this one…  Tomorrowland already has a stage but I don’t think the Monster Dance party really works (for me, anyway).  Why not bring a live band in to play a couple of show a day on the stage and really get the party rocking.  They can still have different characters come out to play and dance with guests, so they would only be losing the DJ.  Plus the Magic Kingdom can use the addition of a live music act somewhere other than Frontierland.

5.  Mulch becomes the house band at the Dance Hall at Disney’s Boardwalk Resort

I love the Boarkwalk.  I love the carnival games and the jugglers and live acts all around the boardwalk.  Plus Jellyrolls is truly awesome.  However, to me the Dance Hall never seems to have a lot of people there…ever.  So why not bring an amazing band in either on weekends or evenings to draw more guests into this amazing entertainment area. It would be a nice contrast to Jellyrolls and add even more excitement to the Epcot Resorts.

Morris Mulch and all his family have been mainstays in our DHS trips over the years and we are very sad to see them go.  Thanks for all the amazing memories and we look forward to what the future holds for you guys!

How do you think Mulch, Sweat, and Shears should be re-imagined?

I think EPCOT is a great idea. Check out this video of Mulch doing the 4th of July show. Certainly there is enough “American” material here for a few half hour sets!!! Thanks to DisVids for doing such a great job on the video: https://youtu.be/1ZWBvYB1IKo

Thanks! They wouldn’t even have to go into World Showcase, they could do what the Jammitors do…roll up somewhere in Future World and start jammin’ right there… Where do you think Mulch should wind up??
