Disney Working on Mary Poppins Sequel
Over fifty years after Mary Poppins (Julie Andrews) floated into the hearts of Disney fans and moviegoers alike, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Disney is developing a new live action Poppins film.
The new story, set around 20 years after the tale of the original 1964 movie will also take its cues from the book series created by P.L. Travers.
Rob Marshall, who directed Into the Woods and Pirates of the Caribbean: on Stranger Tides for Disney, will also direct the new feature, which will also be a musical.
John DeLuca and Marc Platt, who worked with Marshall on Into the Woods, are also producing the new movie while David Magee (Life of Pi) will script the screenplay.
