Time-shares Becoming Bigger Part Of Disney’s Lodging Portfolio
Time-share suites are becoming a larger part of Walt Disney World‘s lodging portfolio. The resort’s number of hotel rooms has shrunk as its Polynesian Village Resort converts rooms in three of its buildings into 360 new time-share villas. It’s the resort’s largest-ever conversion of hotel rooms into units for its growing Disney Vacation Club. Disney said in a statement it will continue to offer a wide variety of both hotel and vacation-club accommodations “to meet guest and market demand for expanded options.” Disney’s move can help it get more use out of its rooms while growing its time-share business more quickly and inexpensively than building from scratch. DirecTV, Disney Ink New Multiyear Distribution Deal
DirecTV and the Walt Disney Co. have mutually agreed to a new multiyear distribution deal that grants the satellite TV company rights to ABC, ESPN and online video services authenticated by the Disney Channel. The renewal of the agreement between the two companies allows subscribers of DirecTV access to the entertainment content of Disney, which can be accessed through all Internet-connected devices such as computers, TVs, gaming consoles and mobile devices. ‘Star Wars VII’ Cast And Crew Thank Fans For Fundraising Efforts
Star Wars fans got an early holiday gift Friday afternoon, with the release of a new video from J.J. Abrams thanking those who donated to the Star Wars: Force for Change fundraising campaign. Following a montage of cast and crew from next year’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens saying “thank you” to the viewer — including cameos from both R2-D2 and Chewbacca, who hasn’t aged a day, impressively — Abrams appears to reveal why everyone is so grateful: Between donations to the campaign from fans and Lucasfilm parent company Disney, the Force for Change campaign raised $4.26 million.
