Pirates of the Caribbean 5 is underway, with the fifth installment of the swashbuckling film series green-lit and set to film in Australia. Fans of the franchise have had to wait a short while for a new Pirates film as the fourth title, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, was released over three years ago in 2011. Overall, the series has grossed over $3.7 billion worldwide, making it one of the most successful movie franchises in Hollywood history. The fifth film is officially titled Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

It is no surprise that American actor Jonny Depp, age 51 but still as spry as ever, will be reprising his role as the whimsical, goofy, and surprisingly cunning Captain Jack Sparrow. Many fans could not imagine Pirates of the Caribbean without Depp, and it seems as though Geoffrey Rush may be reprising his role as well. Rush plays Captain Hector Barbarossa, the villain in the first film who became an ally of the main characters later in the series.
