Review Of Taproom Takeover At Cabana Bar And Beach Club

The Fourth of July is a great day to spend sitting by the pool with friends enjoying a cold beer.  And when you get to enjoy some incredible Cigar City beers, it becomes the best day ever!

Parkhopper Sid and I discovered that there was going to be a special event on the 4th so we decided to drop by and support one of our local breweries.

We had first met the Cigar City Team several months back at a beer dinner held at Loews Royal Pacific Resort At Universal Orlando Resort.  It was an amazing meal where each course of food was paired with a beer from Cigar City.  But a little more about that later.

We got the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin around 3:30 and headed straight to the Cabana Bar and Beach Club.

Located next to the pool, this was a great location for the team from Cigar City to set up a tent with swag you could win by playing beer pong.  Parkhopper Sid won a sweet pair of Cigar City sunglasses, I got a sticker.  So you know who rules the beer pong in our home!

Along with a very special Hops for Heroes – Homefront IPA available at the bar, the tent featured tasters of their ‘usual suspect’ beers:

Hotter Than Helles (Munich Lager), Florida Cracker (White Ale), Invasion (Pale Ale), Jai Alai (IPA), Maduro (Brown Ale), and Cigar City Hard Cider.  All great, but the Maduro Brown Ale is my personal favorite.

After hanging out with Joe and Eric from Cigar City, we moved into a cabana and enjoyed a few different styles of Cigar City brews.  One of our favorites was the Homefront IPA.

Released every tear on Memorial Day, Homefront IPA was created in 2011 by craft brewers with one goal in mind: to honor and support the men and women of America’s armed forces. Homefront is aged on donated Louisville Slugger maple bats, brewed with donated hops from Yakima’s Puterbaugh Farms and infused with fresh orange peel. Crown donated the cans for this year’s effort.

What made this event a Taproom Takeover was all the regular beer available on drought were replaced with featured Cigar City selections.  This event was a lot of fun and several new fans were introduced to Cigar City Brewery and I am looking forward to the next event featuring our Drink Like A Local friends!
