The House of Blues Concert Venue Rocks at Downtown Disney

Think that Disney doesn’t have a great place to ‘rock out’ that isn’t just for kids? You would be wrong!  The House of Blues restaurant located in the West Side of Downtown Disney has an awesome place to rock out to your favorite artists and grab a cocktail!

It’s Bigger on the Inside

From the outside, you get a sense that the House of Blues isn’t all that large.  But the Disney Imagineers have fooled us again, because the inside of concert venue part of House of Blues is deceptively large on the inside.

There is plenty of room for a band with lots of space for people to mix, mingle, and enjoy everything from an intimate concert to a full blow mega concert.

Plenty of Places to Grab a Drink

With several bars located on both floors, it’s very easy to grab something very cool and thirst quenching.  The staff is always very friendly.  It’s odd that you are on Disney Property and yet the staff is not quite “Disney”.  They are awesome, but you can tell that the Mouse’s imprint is present…but only mildly.

It’s a GREAT Concert Venue

The night we were there a Journey cover band was the headliner (if you can say that…??) The sound was awesome.  As a sound guy, you can tell when a venue’s system isn’t right…the House of Blues system was ON POINT!

You can easily hear throughout the building and it’s not overwhelming, but then again, it depends on the artist and their volume requirements.

Little Known Perk

One of the perks of having dinner at the restaurant side of House of Blues is after dinner, you get a special entry into the concert venue  BEFORE all the other guests.  After you finish eating, ask the Host or Hostess where you enter the concert, and you will be directed to an area (beside the HoB Gift Shop) to line up, get a special wristband, and you can enter before everyone else gets in.

If you are expecting a large group of people, like the night we were there, it’s a great opportunity to ‘stake out” prime seating or concert viewing areas.  We had about 1/2 an hour to roam around and could get the seating area we wanted or right in front of the stage.

If you have the opportunity to go to the House of Blues for a concert, I would HIGHLY  encourage you to book a dining reservation before the concert and take advantage of this special perk.

These are our thoughts, we would love to hear your stories of House of Blues concerts!  Leave us a comment in the area below and let’s talk about the Bluesy side of Downtown Disney!
