Dapper Dans On The Mic

While visiting the Magic Kingdom, we love to stop and see the Dapper Dans when they are out on Main Street.  On a recent visit, I noticed something on the front of the vests of the Dapper Dans.

I work in the Audio-Visual field so I recognized the microphones.  My first thought was, where are the speakers?  I hear it but where in the world…

I must say, I was impressed. The 4 members of the quartet were wearing the microphones but they were also used to pick of the voices of “guest stars.”

Something that we love is that Disney is always looking for ways to improve the quality of the guests experiences and being able to make sure that everyone can here a show on Main Street is definitely one way of doing it.

Here are a few of the tidbits we also learned that day about this new system.

  1. The windows stay closed until show time and then open on an automatic timer.
  2. The speakers are positioned in windows almost all the way down Main Street so you can hear the Dapper Dans even before you see them.
  3. The audio is actually controlled in a room far off Main Street.
  4. There is a Disney Cast Member shadowing the quartet to relay mixing needs and speaker issues back to the control room.

Make sure you check out the Dapper Dans and let us know what you think of the audio changes.

What other improvements/changes have you
noticed around Walt Disney World recently?

What do you think of them?
