I have been a Disney traditionalist my whole life. I love the classic Disney cartoon shorts and feature animations. We all know that Walt loved progress and technology, and was frustrated many times because his ideas were beyond the tech science of the day. But as advanced as CG gets, which allows animated toons and movies to jump from the screen, almost as real-live characters, nothing can replace the simple, yet elegant cartoons of the early era. At Carthay Circle Restaurant and Lounge at Disney’s California Adventure, the gingerbread is artfully appropriate – Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Gingerbread Cottage, a nod to the classic animated film “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” which premiered at the original Carthay Theatre in Los Angeles in 1937. Perfect for the 75th anniversary of the film’s debut. The intricate gingerbread cottage, created by Pastry Chef Jorge Sotelo and his team at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, is just 24” X 24” X 24”, and is on display this week through January 6, 2013, in the lower lobby by the Disney Family Museum Snow White Cell Collection.
