Kung fu star Chen Min adds Chinese culture flare in the Latin American entertainment by introducing the martial arts to her audience. Disney XD’s upcoming television show “Jungle Nest” will get a flare of Chinese culture with the addition of Chinese kung fu star Chen Min to its cast. Chen is known for introducing and promoting the martial arts in Latin America, earning her the moniker “female Bruce Lee.” The 30-year-old’s impressive stint in the Disney show “Super Torpe” earned her a ticket to become a notable artist in the region and in some other parts of the globe. Disney To Develop Original Comedy Projects Through Storytellers Initiative
Disney wants to find new talent for future programming on its cable networks. Through the newly created Disney Channel Storytellers, the Disney family of networks (including Disney Channel and Disney XD) aims to “foster creative ideas and develop the next generation of series creators and screenwriters” for programs targeting kids, tweens and families. The 20-week program is open to professional writers, who will be salaried during its duration. Writers participating in the program will be assisted by It’s a Laugh Productions, a regular supplier of original programming for Disney networks, and will also be given WGA membership eligibility credits. LeBron James Partners With ESPN On A New Disney TV Show, ‘Becoming,’ Debuting Oct. 26
CLEVELAND — LeBron James’ production company is working with ESPN Films on “Becoming,” a Disney TV show for children, and the first episode will feature James. The partnership between Springhill Productions, James’ company operated by long-time friend and business associate Maverick Carter, and ESPN was announced Wednesday. “Becoming” will feature star athletes and portray their childhoods — beginning with James’ upbringing in Akron.
