Alice, Oswald, Mickey All Walt Disney’s Triumphants
Walt Disney did not invent animation. He was not the first to put sound to his cartoons or even give personality to a cartoon character. But Walt did take the idea of moving drawings, barely understood by the artists who drew them and an audience who did not take them seriously, into a sophisticated highly refined art form that today because of Walt’s innovations and creativity are as popular as live films and are a multi-million dollar business today.

Saturday Morning Cartoons – The Opry House (1929)
The Opry House was originally released on March 28, 1929 by Walt Disney Studios and distributed by Celebrity Pictures. It features the cartoon characters Mickey Mouse and Kat Nipp. It was directed by Walt Disney and produced by Walt Disney. It was animated by the legendary Ub Iwerks with original story by Walt Disney.

Saturday Cartoons: Plane Crazy (1928)
Trying to emulate his hero, Charles Lindberg and woo Minnie Mouses’ love, Mickey Mouse creates a homemade airplane. Plane Crazy is the first Mickey Mouse cartoon to be produced, but the third to be released. Co-directed by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks, Iwerks was also the main animator for this short and reportedly only spent six weeks working on it. The sound version contained a soundtrack by Carl W. Stalling. Plane Crazy was distributed by Celebrity Pictures/Buena Vista Pictures and produced by Walt Disney Productions.
