Disney’s ‘20,000 Leagues Under the Sea’ Confirmed For Australia Shoot
The Hollywood Reporter reported that the Australian government had awarded a $20.7 million tax break to The Walt Disney Co. for it to film its “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” remake down under.
According to the report, Australian officials are optimistic that the film project will create 2,000 jobs. Shooting will take place in Queensland and New South Wales, according to the post.
No casting details have been released about the film remake of the Jules Verne story about the infamous Capt. Nemo. What is known about the project is that it will be directed by David Fincher, who might be best known for his work with “Girl With The Dragon Tattoo,” “The Social Network” and “Fight Club.”
Previous reports have stated that Fincher will film the new “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” in 3D.
