Casey’s Corner – Review

Disney is known for their gourmet food and wide range of ethnic edibles.  You can find perfect steaks, sushi, roasted lamb, and a hundred other delicacies.

But sometimes you just want an all-American hot dog.  Let me introduce you to Casey’s Corner.

Casey’s Corner is located in Magic Kingdom at the end of Main Street  across from the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor.  The menu offers hot dogs, chili, French fries and corn dogs. It is a quick-service dining option where you order and receive your food at the counter and find a seat on your own.

Let me start by telling you about the food. The hot dogs are perfectly cooked and you can customize them as you like.  In addition to the toppings offered at the counter (cheese sauce and chili) there is a toppings bar.  You can pile your dog high with ketchup, mustard, chopped onions, relish, sauerkraut, and even jalapeños.  The only limitation is your creativity.

Our guilty pleasures when visiting Casey’s have to be the Corn Dog Nuggets and the Chili-Cheese Fries.  The chili at Casey’s is excellent and can only be made better by pouring it over a plate of fresh French fries.  This is my favorite savory Magic Kingdom indulgence.  And while the food is great, it is the atmosphere that truly makes Casey’s an experience not to miss.

Let’s start with the décor.  Of course it is baseball themed.  It is beautifully done with an old-style ball park in mind including memorabilia and antique team photos.  There are 2 seating options if you decide to stay near the restaurant.  The first is the indoor option.  This includes bleachers for seats, a few tables, and an awesome video screen that plays classic Disney sports themed cartoons.  There is no better way to take a break on a hot Florida afternoon than a hot dog and cartoons in an air-conditioned room.

The second option is the outside patio.  This is a great place to gather with a group of friends or family.  There is a beautiful view of Cinderella’s castle as well as Main Street and The Crystal Palace.  There are trees surrounding this patio so it is not the best place to watch a parade or fireworks but is peaceful and charming all the same.
