A Trip to the Walt Disney Family Museum
On a recent trip to San Francisco for a conference, I had one sightseeing trip in mind: a trip to the Walt Disney Family Museum in the Presidio. This two year old museum, created with the help of Walt Disney’s daughter, Diane, is a beautiful tribute to the genius creator. The location’s incredible too. Behind the museum you can see the Golden Gate Bridge, and the Presidio is a beautiful, historic area that used to be owned by the military, but was recently transferred to the National Park Service. I have been a Disney traditionalist my whole life. I love the classic Disney cartoon shorts and feature animations. We all know that Walt loved progress and technology, and was frustrated many times because his ideas were beyond the tech science of the day. But as advanced as CG gets, which allows animated toons and movies to jump from the screen, almost as real-live characters, nothing can replace the simple, yet elegant cartoons of the early era.
