Port Orleans French Quarter

One of my favorite resorts on Walt Disney World property is Port Orleans French Quarter.  Nestled along the banks of the Sassagoula River, it is the smallest of the moderate resorts, but it has some of the most detailed theming that will transport you to the laid back lifestyle of New Orleans.  Upon arrival, you are greeted in true Mardi Gras fashion by the flamboyant doorman as you enter the beautiful glass lobby.   Jazz music plays in the background and somehow life seems a bit slower.

While walking the grounds, take in the beautiful scenery of wrought iron detailing on the buildings and lush landscaping that surrounds you.  All the outside chaos of the nearby parks seems to somehow disappear.

On our last stay, we stayed in a corner room with a King sized bed.  The advantage of this corner room was the extra set of windows, which made the room seem a bit larger.  The double sinks and larger “changing area” in the rooms are a nice step up from the value resorts and are very convenient when getting ready in the morning.

The atmosphere at Port Orleans French Quarter is unarguably some of the finest at Walt Disney World, but the best part of this resort is definitely the beignets!  Make sure to stop by Sassogoula Float Works and & Food Factory and pick some up.  Get at least 6…trust me, they won’t go to waste.

I hope you’ll take some time on your next trip to the World to either stay at Port Orleans French Quarter or at least take a trip to explore this magical resort.  Laissez le bon temps roulez!

This is by far our favorite resort in all of WDW and we almost didn’t buy into DVC because we love staying there so much.

One of the things we really love about staying at POFQ is listening to Elliot Dyson perform in Scat Cats every Wednesday – Sunday evening. It’s a good way to wind down after visiting the parks all day.

His show is very family friendly and we plan on visiting him in just 21 days while we stay at Old Key West resort, just down the road.

We grab a pizza and a couple of cold adult beverages and just enjoy the music. You might even catch us singing along with Elliot.

I had the same feeling when we bought DVC! Thanks for the great tip on Elliot Dyson. I’ve heard great things about that show, but still haven’t seen it. I think the Parkhoppers might have to make a trip over there soon 🙂
