Walking Right Down the Middle of Main Street, U.S.A

One of my favorite things about Magic Kingdom is the streetmosphere and town folks of Main Street USA.  If you haven’t yet, take some extra time in the morning to be at the Good Morning Show which opens the park each day about 15 minutes before park opening.  Times vary depending on Extra Magic Hours, so ask a Cast Member to make sure you don’t miss it.  The good town folks of Main Street welcome you with song and dance and introduce the Main Street Train which is carrying all your favorite Disney characters to welcome you to the Magic Kingdom!  A family is chosen from the crowd to assist Mickey in the count down to opening.

Upon entering the Magic Kingdom, you come to Town Square.  Just across from the train station, there is a pick up area for the horse drawn trolley ride to Cinderella Castle.  Once aboard the trolly, you my even be serenaded up Main Street by a fantastic barber shop quartet ‘The Dapper Dans.  It is ALWAYS the highlight of my morning!  Once at Cinderella Castle, you depart the trolly.  If you walk back on to Main Street, you can catch the Trolly Show! It’s a medley of songs to welcome you to the park and introduce you to the Magic Kingdom, one of our favorite things!

Just walking around Main Street you are immersed in the sights and sounds of where Walt Disney grew up.  From the quaint court yards to the smell of fresh baked goodies, from the Fire Station to the gift shops, you feel as if you are in a story.  Remember to look up and read some of the office windows, you may recognize some of the names.

At 5:00pm each day, the Magic Kingdom has a flag retreat ceremony where a member of the Military or Veteran is honored.  The Main Street Philharmonic band plays a medley of patriotic songs as the flag is lowered for the day and given to that military family.  Then the band retreats up Main Street.

Through out the day on Main Street you can catch the Main Street Philharmonic band, trolly show, main street town folks and the Dapper Dans wondering about.  Be sure you take time to say hello to the Mayor of Main Street U.S.A, the Fire Chief and Scoop, Main Street’s Reporter.  A true gentleman, Scoop is known for trading pins with kids from all ages.  Remember to ask him about his puppies, you just might get to help walk them!
