Planes: Fire & Rescue Join Smokey Bear in New Wildfire Prevention PSAs
In an effort to educate Americans about how to prevent accidental wildfires, Disney is joining the Ad Council, the U.S. Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters (NASF) to launch a new series of public service advertisements (PSAs) featuring scenes and characters from Disneytoon Studios’ upcoming animated film “Planes: Fire & Rescue.” The PSAs are an extension of the Wildfire Prevention PSA campaign, featuring the iconic Smokey Bear, who celebrates his 70th birthday this summer. Disney’s ‘Frozen’ Tops $400M
On its 155th day of domestic release, Walt Disney’s animated smash Frozen has crossed $400 million at the domestic box office. Coming off a $67 million Fri-Sun debut over its $93m Thanksgiving weekend opening, the film has earned a mammoth 5.9x its opening weekend number. The film crossed $1 billion about a month ago and continues to move higher up the all-time grossers list. All About Pluto
The first short in which Mickey Mouse and Pluto appeared together was The Chain Gang (1930)—it was Pluto’s first—and second—appearance. The Chain Gang featured two identical and unnamed Plutos who, unlike Mickey’s friendly pup that we all know and love, are relentless bloodhounds. Pluto’s second outing in The Picnic (1930) was a little more indicative of his future career. In this short, his name was Rover, and he was very definitely Minnie’s dog rather than Mickey’s.
