New Africa Marketplace Coming Spring 2015 To Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Imagine the colors, scents and boundless activity of a village marketplace in Africa. That sensory scene is coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom with a spring 2015 opening planned for Africa Marketplace – a new shopping and dining option for park-goers in Harambe, the village anchoring the Africa section of the park. One highlight of the new space will be Harambe Marketplace, a new quick-service food and beverage location offering street-inspired dishes from walk-up windows. Guests will find plenty of shady places to relax and eat. For their convenience, the new space also will open up a new pathway from Africa to Bradley Falls and the Asia section of the park.…

TCM-Disney Deal Includes Great Movie Ride Changes
The Great Movie Ride at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will get some tweaks, and classic Disney productions will find a new cable-TV home through a corporate partnership announced Wednesday. Turner Classic Movies will air a collection of Disney shows and movies a few times a year —some of them making their television debut. Disney’s ‘Frozen’ Beats Barbie As Top Toy For Girls, Survey Says
Sorry, Barbie. You’ve had a long reign as the top toy for girls. But you’ll have to ‘Let it Go.’ Parents reported that 20% planned to buy Disney’s ‘Frozen’ goodies for girls this year, compared to 16.8% choosing to purchase Barbies, in the National Retail Federation’s latest holiday top toys survey. This is the first time in the survey’s 11-year-history that Barbie was beaten, according to NRF. Forty-two percent of shoppers plan to buy toys as gifts for the holiday, the consumer survey points out. Whereas, 61% plan to buy clothes or clothing accessories. Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Honored with Prestigious Industry Awards
This week, the Themed Entertainment Associated (TEA) announced the recipients for their 21st annual Thea Awards. These awards seek to acknowledge the outstanding achievements in the themed entertainment industry in addition to the creative talent behind each attraction or experience. Walt Disney Parks and Resorts was honored to receive three awards, including the Thea Classic award for Disneyland’s it’s a small world attraction in Anaheim, California. Incoming TEA president Steve Birket deemed it’s a small world a “timeless classic,” calling the attraction “a metaphor for our increasingly global industry.” Disney Parks also received honors for Bistrot Chez Remy at Walt Disney Studios Park in Paris, France, and for Wilderness Explorers…
