Disney’s Live-Action Beauty And The Beast Will Make A Major Change To The Animated Film
Among Disney’s slate of live-action remakes of their classic animated movies is Beauty and the Beast. Unlike Maleficent and Cinderella before it, the film will follow in the footsteps of its animated counterpart by being a musical. However, as with any adaptation, there are bound to be changes from the “original” story, and in this case, moviegoers should expect to hear some extra songs added to the lineup of music. During his “Artist to Artist” production at Lincoln Center earlier this week, witnessed by Stitch Kingdom, Disney composer Alan Menken, who also scored the 1991 movie, revealed that he and his writing partner Tim Rice have created three new songs…

Disney’s Live-Action ‘Beauty And The Beast’ Set For March 17, 2017
Disney has set a March 17, 2017, release date for its live-action “Beauty and the Beast.” The film stars “Harry Potter” actress Emma Watson as Belle, “Downton Abbey” alum Dan Stevens as the Beast and Luke Evans as Gaston. Josh Gad has also been cast as LeFou. Emma Thompson has joined the cast as Mrs. Potts and Kevin Kline as Belle’s father, Maurice. “Beauty and the Beast” is the first film set for the date. Bill Condon to Direct Live-Action ‘Beauty and the Beast’
Twilight helmer Bill Condon has signed on to direct Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast film. The news comes on the heels of Disney’s latest live-action success, Maleficent, which hit theaters May 28. The film, starring Angelina Jolie, topped the box office its opening weekend, earning north of $170 million worldwide. Disney also released the live-action Wizard of Oz and Alice in Wonderland films to much success, and currently has a live-action Cinderella film coming up in 2015 as well as a Jungle Book film in development.
